Giving Thanks Lunchtime Concert
Celebrate the spirit of the season with the Iris Artist Fellows at Germantown Community Theatre! This joyful chamber concert brims with music that sparkles with warmth, gratitude, and festive cheer. Gather with friends, family, and neighbors to enjoy uplifting works that capture the heart of Thanksgiving—community, celebration, and giving thanks together through the universal language of music. In an effort to spread joy and cheer, please consider helping Iris give back by bringing a non-perishable food item with you to this concert. Iris will deliver these donations to Overton Shell's Shell Pantry in an effort to support those affected by furloughs, layoffs, and others in need.
Vijay Gupta: On Stage with Iris Collective
Violinist and social justice advocate Vijay Gupta gives his Iris debut with a personal and collaborative program that connects masterworks of the past with the music of our time. A 2018 recipient of the MacArthur "Genius" Grant, Vijay Gupta is the founding artistic director of Street Symphony, a community of Los Angeles-based musicians creating performances, workshops, and new songs with neighbors recovering from addiction, homelessness and incarceration. The evening features Bach’s E Major Partita interwoven with Kurtág’s Signs, Games and Messages, a movement from Darshan by Reena Esmail, and Beethoven’s vibrant Septet in E-flat Major, performed with members of the Iris Collective.

Eunbi Kim & Iris Musicians
Pianist Eunbi Kim (‘eu’ sounds like the oo in “book" and “look” – easy!) creates intimate experiences that transcend the conventions of the piano recital. A winner of the 2023 Astral Artists National Competition, her credits include solo programs at the Kennedy Center, a concert-meditation performance at Lincoln Center, and a TEDx Talk. She has been noted for her “creative curiosity and fearless experimentation” (New York Public Radio), and her recent album debuted at #2 on Billboard Classical Charts.

Peanut Butter & Jam: Animal Jam
Join us for Animal Jam, a fun-filled children’s concert where music meets the animal kingdom! Iris Collective’s string trio will perform playful, animal-inspired music that will have your little ones roaring, hopping, and fluttering along. From the buzzing of bees to the stomping of elephants, each piece brings the animal world to life through the magic of classical string instruments. After the performance, children can explore the Instrument Petting Zoo—a hands-on experience in which they can touch and play on violins, violas, and cellos that are just their size. Kids are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite animal or bring along their favorite stuffed animal friend for this musical safari. It's the perfect event for young nature and music lovers alike!
Brazil By Night
Join Collage Dance Collective and Iris Collective for a Brazilian themed evening of live music, world-class dance, cocktails and food. This all-VIP experience includes an authentic Brazilian feast with performances by Collage's internationally-touring ballet company and the Iris Artist Fellows.

Awadagin Pratt: On Stage with Iris Collective
Nationally acclaimed pianist Awadagin Pratt returns to Iris for a personal evening of solo and chamber music after his Grammy-award winning recording and performance of Rounds by Jessie Montgomery. Through his kaleidoscopic career as a pianist, conductor, educator, and curator of memorable musical moments, Awadagin Pratt shines a light on voices of the past and present. The evening will feature solo works by François Couperin titled Pièces de clavecin as well as the ebullient 25 Variations & Fugue on a Theme of Handel in B-Flat Major by Johannes Brahms. The program culminates in a performance of Schubert’s masterpiece, Piano Quintet in A Major “The Trout” with members of the Iris Collective.

Join our Fellows, Roberta dos Santos, cello, and Alexandre Negrão, violin, for an eclectic night of music in this intimate setting. From the lyricism of Brazilian masters Osvaldo Lacerda and Chiquinha Gonzaga, to the intensity of Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 7, this program spans worlds of sound and emotion. The program also includes Tucker Fuller’s contemplative The Road Ahead inspired by Thomas Merton’s reflections on faith, and Clarice Assad’s Canções da América, bursting with color and rhythm. Featuring Iris artists Marisa Polesky, violin; Aaron Tubergen, viola and David Carlisle, percussion.

On Stage with Iris Collective: Karen Slack
Soprano Karen Slack makes her Iris debut with songs from her recent Grammy-winning album, Beyond the Years: Unpublished Songs of Florence Price, shining a light on the groundbreaking African-American composer. Ms. Slack has been praised for performances that “ripped the audiences heart out” (Opera News). She will also be accompanied by members of the Iris Collective in a set of songs by William Grant Still titled Songs of Separation. A powerful evening filled with today’s leading voices in classical music.
Sounds of Brazil Lunchtime Concert
Experience the colorful spirit of Brazil as returning Iris Artist Fellow Roberta dos Santos (cello) and new Fellow Alexandre Negrao (violin) bring their homeland’s rich musical traditions to life in their first performance of the season.

Homecoming
Brothers Randall and Miles Goosby return to their hometown with their close friend and pianist Zhu Wang to present a concert of iconic chamber music works in an intimate setting on the GPAC stage. The program features William Grant Still's Suite for Violin and Piano, Beethoven's A Major Sonata for Cello and Piano, and Mendelssohn's Piano Trio in D minor, highlighting the artistry and talent of each musician.

Morton Museum Series: On the Farm Children’s Concert & Instrument Petting Zoo
Join us for a fun-filled, family-friendly sing-along concert about animals and farm life! After, explore our instrument petting zoo, featuring a string trio with Iris musicians—Cellist Roberta Dos Santos and violinist Gabriela Fogo, joined by violist Luiz Carlos Barrionuevo. Iris’ long-standing partnership with Collierville’s Morton Museum brings together a community of artists and programming in a beautiful Gothic Revival historical landmark setting.
Recomposed: Elena Urioste
Violinist Elena Urioste returns to Iris as soloist and leader for Recomposed by Max Richter, an exhilarating and imaginative interpretation of Vivaldi’s iconic Four Seasons. This concert explores works expanded and reconstructed to go beyond one single genre. Featuring the virtuosic string sections of the Iris Collective, works by Piazzolla and Shostakovich will surprise and delight audiences. This concert will also feature a piece composed by families from Baptist Centers for Good Grief and Iris musicians as part of a workshop series combining music and meditation as part of Iris’ year-round commitment to health and wellness.

Daughters and Wives: Women Composers Through the Ages
Explore the intersection of music and history with an evening that celebrates women’s creativity and resilience across centuries. Iris Collective’s string trio featuring our Iris Artist Fellows, Gabriela Fogo and Roberta dos Santos, will perform works by female composers surrounded by pieces from the "Votes for Woman: A Portrait of Persistence" exhibit that focuses on Women's rights, suffrage, and the 1840s through 1920s when the fight for the 19th amendment was in full swing.
Say It Loud- Overlook Quartet
This all-female string quartet hails from New York City but has a long-standing relationship with Memphis through Iris. Their 5-day residency includes workshops and performances in educational, community and healthcare settings. Using the practice of deep listening developed by composer Pauline Oliveros, the group will invite audiences to join them in this meditative practice which promotes peace and well-being. Their final performance at Crosstown Arts will include an eclectic program of music by under-represented composers that will engage the audience in deep listening, dialogue and joyful music-making.

Conducted by Iris founder Michael Stern, these students will perform side-by-side with Iris musicians for Florence Price’s gorgeous work Adoration.
